Work to begin on new stand as ground plans given green light
South Shields Football Club is pleased to confirm that it has obtained planning permission to allow it to continue with the next stage of development at 1st Cloud Arena.
Work will now commence on erecting a new main stand which will be situated adjacent to Shaftesbury Avenue and is designed to seat more than 900 spectators.
Should all construction targets be met, the stand will be operational in time for the start of the 2021-22 season to further enhance the matchday experience enjoyed by supporters. Some of the facilities the club plans to house within the stand are likely to take a longer period to complete.
Permission has also been granted for the build of another stand, to be positioned behind the goal adjacent to the 3G pitch, but there is no short-term prospect of construction starting on this aspect of the ground development project. The club will further assess the immediate viability of the build of that stand over the next 12 months.
The club would like to thank South Tyneside Council for their support of the project and we look forward to welcoming supporters back to what promises to be a new-look and much-improved 1st Cloud Arena as soon as possible.
Progress made on the new stand will be shared in the weeks ahead and supporters are reminded that season tickets with seats in it are available to purchase. To secure your seat, please click here and follow the instructions.
There are also a number of exciting commercial opportunities related to the new stand, including the opportunity for supporters, sponsors or businesses to purchase an executive box within it on a seasonal basis. More details will be made available in due course but enquiries can be made by sending an email to email@example.com.
