West Allotment Celtic vs South Shields Preview

By Bob Wray

The Mariners travel to play West Allotment Celtic in an Ebac Northern League Division Two fixture on Saturday.

This is IF the weather does not cause yet another postponement, and early indications are that the game already may be in some doubt in respect of the forecast between the time of writing and Saturday.

As now said on several occasions, no league fixture has been staged since December 28, and if this next game is unfortunately to become another weather casualty, a friendly fixture has been arranged for 2pm on the all weather pitch at Mortimer Road School.

Celtic are riding high in the league under the management of popular former Mariner and ex-professional Football League player Paul Stoneman, and are on course for promotion if they can maintain form and impetus.

Shields are within two to three games perhaps of total safety, and beyond that to hopefully have a good season run in to achieve a high league table finish, which all makes for what should be a most entertaining encounter with both sides wanting points for their own reasons.
