VIDEO: Mark Scott – Players can hold heads high after shootout defeat
First-team coach Mark Scott insisted South Shields’ players could “hold their heads high” after Tuesday’s penalty shoot-out defeat to Newton Aycliffe in the Durham Challenge Cup semi-final.
The Mariners lost on penalties for the second time this season, with Aycliffe winning 3-1 on spot-kicks after a 2-2 draw.
In the video above, Scott discusses the match, and the controversial decision to send off Julio Arca in extra-time.
He also talks about why he is so confident Shields will bounce back in Saturday’s game at Ryton & Crawcrook Albion in the league.
