Leepaul Scroggins admitted South Shields were relieved to get back on the pitch as they saw off Billingham Town 3-1 on Saturday.

The Mariners had endured a frustrating period of postponements, but the game at Billingham went ahead despite high winds.

Shields took full advantage of the match being on, with Warren Byrne firing a hat-trick to secure a 19th consecutive win.

In the video above, Scroggins discusses the game, and admits the Mariners were too direct in the first half.

He also talks about the strength of the squad, and looks ahead to Saturday’s home match against Morpeth Town in the FA Vase.
