South Shields’ Under-18s side take on Stockton Town tomorrow (Saturday) at the Harton and Westoe Miners’ Welfare Ground.
The young Mariners go into the game on the back of four points from their last two games.
They won 4-1 at Willington, with goals from Bayles (2), Hope and Davidson.
Head coach Kevin Bolam said: “It was a fantastic performance from the whole squad in what was a very difficult fixture.
“The lads were brilliant from start to finish.”
The Under-18s followed that up with a 3-3 draw at Ouston, with Bayles, Simpson and Hope scoring Shields’ goals.
Bolam added: “It was the proverbial game of two halves.
“The lads were top class in the first half and raced into a three-goal lead, but we were pegged back in the second half.
“For me, though, it was still a good point, as it was another away fixture and we remain unbeaten in 10 games now in a very competitive league.”
The young Mariners are slightly struggling for numbers tomorrow, with some players away and others unavailable.
However, it will give other players an opportunity to gain a place in the side.
Kick-off at Harton Welfare is at 1.30pm.
