Under-16s complete season – and look ahead

South Shields Under-16s rounded off an excellent season with a resounding 5-0 away success at Peterlee Juniors.

The match was played at the adopted home of the first team, Eden Lane, with Heywood, Lee, Bayles and Donaghy (2) grabbing the goals.

Coach Kevin Bolam, who presided over a treble this season, said: “Each and every one of the players has played a major part in their success this season.

“We now look forward to competing in the very tough Under-18s Durham County League, where the pressure will be off the lads as they are a year down in age, but are really looking forward to the challenges ahead.”

The team will start pre-season on Sunday, June 22, at Bents Park in South Shields. More details to follow.

They are actively seeking new players for what promises to be an excellent league season.

Bolam added: “New players will have to be committed to training each week, along with games midweek and Saturdays, when the league starts next season.”
