Tickets To The Future distributed by SSFC Foundation
Thanks to the incredible generosity of South Shields supporters, the club had a number of season tickets to give away ahead of the 2021-22 campaign.
In total, 133 junior and three adult season tickets were purchased by South Shields supporters and donated back to the club during the first lockdown in 2020.
The responsibility of allocating the tickets fell to SSFC Foundation, the club’s charitable arm.
The Foundation deliberated over how to do it at great length and eventually decided that as the tickets were donated in a true spirit of humility – one of the club’s core values – that should be considered in deciding how they were allocated.
Eight tickets were awarded to children who play for Harton & Westoe Hurricanes. The players exhibited tremendous bravery and togetherness when they performed a guard of honour ahead of a pre-season game in memory of their greatly-missed friend and team-mate Ethan Adams.
Another 45 tickets were allocated to the Foundation’s ‘stars of the future’. These are children aged between four and seven who take part in the Thinkers & Movers and Mini Mariners activities at Harton & Westoe Miners Welfare. These children will either progress to represent the club at junior level or may just want to come and cheer on the first-team at 1st Cloud Arena.
The remaining tickets were distributed to the Foundation’s partner schools. This category of ticket is identifying the ‘champions of the future’. Each week our Foundation coaches will work with schools to identify those children who have embodied the club’s values – humility, industry and unity – in their school. The aim is that the tickets will be used to further connect the club to the community.
To all recipients of Tickets to the Future, we hope you enjoy your matchday experience and we welcome you as one of our band of generous, loyal and truly amazing supporters.
