South Shields are delighted to announce the signing of Craig Roberts from Brandon United.

The 19-year-old forward played twice against the Mariners this season for Brandon, scoring twice in Shields’ 5-3 win in September.

Roberts has now opted to join Shields, and is available to make his debut in tomorrow’s Ebac Northern League Division Two game against Norton and Stockton Ancients at Peterlee.

He said: “I’m looking forward to getting started.

“I know Shields are a good team because I’ve played against them two times this season and managed to score twice.

“I’m quite a versatile player, and I think my strengths are my speed and my stamina. I’m attack-minded.”

Manager Jon King added: “The lad is a very good player.

“I thought he was fantastic against us. He has got pace, scores goals and works hard.

“We’re over the moon to have him on board.”
