The CEFO CFS Challenge Trophy will be on the line when Blyth Spartans host South Shields in pre-season this month.
Both clubs recently announced partnerships with CFS and CEFO Group, signalling the group of companies’ tremendous and continued commitment to supporting non-league football in the North East.
The CFS logo will be featured on all South Shields first-team and replica shirts for the 2021-22 season as part of an exciting link-up between the club and CEFO Group, which is also Blyth’s main sponsor.
The match between the sides will take place on Saturday, July 24 at Croft Park and it has now been confirmed they will be competing for silverware as the support of CFS and CEFO Group for both sides is further strengthened.
CEFO Group chief executive officer John Wood said: “What an exciting prelude to the new season for both clubs!
“Our whole reason for sponsoring both clubs is to invest in, and bring together, the community of the North East.
“What better way to do this than a pre-season challenge match between two of the region’s most popular clubs? Good luck to both Spartans and South Shields!”
South Shields FC Head of Business Development Colin Docherty said: “The support CFS and CEFO Group are showing for non-league football in our region is remarkable.
“I’m sure both clubs are united in their gratitude for the backing the companies have provided during what has been and continues to be a hugely uncertain time for sides at our level, and this game provides an opportunity for us to demonstrate our thanks.
“It is sure to be as competitive a pre-season friendly as you can get between two well-supported clubs looking to fine-tune their preparations for the new campaign and with a trophy on the line, the occasion is one to truly look forward to.”
Blyth Spartans chairman Tony Platten said: “Blyth, like South Shields, look forward to at last playing a game in front of our enthusiastic supporters and hope that the lifting of some Covid restrictions will allow this to happen.
“We know the team from CEFO and CFS from previous seasons and we hope that we can now help to give them the exposure they deserve for their support of local football.”

The club is delighted to welcome The Westoe Practice on board as new main sponsor after the health centre won the prize draw.
The practice, based in Elizabeth Street, South Shields, was one of dozens of businesses which entered the sponsorship draw for £100.
The company will now get its name on Shields’ home shirt for this season, as well as a large perimeter advertisement board at the club’s ground, Eden Lane in Peterlee.
The Westoe Practice was picked at random by South Shields MP Emma Lewell-Buck yesterday, and the company’s owner, Dean Glozier, says he hopes a fruitful relationship can now be struck with the Mariners.
He said: “I was absolutely thrilled to hear the news – it will be great to be involved with the club.
“My business is all about health and well-being, and improving performance, so this is a unique opportunity for me.
“My vision is to change the way people view health, and everything my business does is about optimum health.
“We have a fantastic team of physiotherapists and dieticians, and we are all about increasing performance and helping with rehabilitation from injury.
“We work to preserve health, increase longevity and speed recovery, and that will combine really well with the club.
“We might be able to help them in ways they don’t even expect.”
The Westoe Practice’s logo will also feature on the front cover of every Shields matchday programme this season, while there will be a full-page advert inside.
The company follows in the footsteps of Westoe Lettings, which won the sponsor draw last year.
South Shields chairman Gary Crutwell has paid tribute to all those who took part in the draw.
He said: “We would like to thank everyone who entered the draw.
“It was a great way of helping the club get through a difficult period in Peterlee.
“I’m over the moon for the winner, and we look forward to a good working relationship with Dean and the company.”
Even those who were unsuccessful in the draw will enjoy benefits over the next 12 months, with a business advertisement and weblink placed on the club website, while each company’s details will be in every matchday programme this season.
As the winner, The Westoe Practice will also get complimentary tickets to all Mariners corporate events, match sponsorship of a game of their choice, and their company logo on a regular newsletter sent out to subscribers.
Once again, South Shields FC would like to thank every company and individual who entered the draw for their support.
