The club has now been handed a home fixture on non-league day, which this year falls on Saturday, September 3.
The Mariners will host Whitley Bay in a 3pm kick-off in Northern League Division One on a day when non-league football will be pushed to the front of the national attention, with no games in the top two tiers of English football.
Shields had been left without a game when the away fixture against Whitley Bay was brought forward, but they will now face the same opposition, albeit at Mariners Park.
The club will be raising funds on the day for the official charity of non-league day, Prostate Cancer UK, while we are also encouraging supporters to wear fancy dress, with a superhero theme.
There will be a prize for the supporter who wears the best fancy dress on the day, and although it is mainly aimed at our younger fans, all are welcome to take part and help create a party-like atmosphere at the ground.
Last year, a crowd of 1,045 watched Shields beat Ryton and Crawcrook Albion on non-league day, and we would very much appreciate another large support this time around.
In addition, the Mariners are now at home on Saturday, September 10, with Ryhope CW to visit Mariners Park.
Hospitality packages for both the Whitley Bay and Ryhope matches are now available at a cost of £25 per supporter.
Guests will be invited to watch the game from the O’Brien Lounge, while they will get a three-course meal, match programme, the chance to vote for and present the man of the match award as well as, of course, entry to the ground for the match. To book, call us on 0191 454 7800.
