South Shields forward Jonny Wightman has completed a move to Ebac Northern League Division One side Sunderland RCA.

Wightman, who can also play out wide, departs Mariners Park with a record of 190 appearances and 49 goals.

He made 16 appearances for Shields this season after rejoining the club from Dunston UTS.

Everyone at the club would like to wish Jonny all the best for the future.

Jonny Wightman feels South Shields’ 2-1 win over Washington showed how far the team has come in recent weeks.

Wightman scored a superb volley to put Shields 2-0 up in the FA Vase tie at Mariners Park, and afterwards expressed his emotions.

South Shields secured a sixth straight win on Saturday with a superb 2-1 success against Washington in the FA Vase.

In doing so, the Mariners defeated a side which has not yet lost in Ebac Northern League Division One so far this season.
