South Shields made it a magnificent 12 wins in a row as they edged a seven-goal thriller with Thornaby at Mariners Park on Saturday.

The Mariners were watched by the club’s biggest crowd for over 20 years, as 1,115 spectators packed into Mariners Park.

They were not to be disappointed with the entertainment on offer, as Shields battled back from a goal behind before holding off a Thornaby fightback after they had wrestled control of the game.

Ben Riding scored the hosts’ first goal before a Lewis Teasdale hat-trick bagged the points and sent the huge crowd home happy.
