South Shields were knocked out of the FA Vase in agonising circumstances on Wednesday as Morpeth Town won a penalty shoot-out 10-9.

The Mariners had performed admirably against Ebac Northern League Division Two’s second-placed side, but were unable to force a victory in the 120 minutes at Consett as a 3-3 draw was played out.
