South Shields made it three wins in a row when they defeated Heaton Stannington 2-1 on Tuesday.

Goals from Wayne Phillips and Warren Byrne secured the three points for the hosts at Mariners Park.

Striker Warren Byrne told of his delight after his goal proved the difference in South Shields’ 2-1 win over Heaton Stannington on Tuesday.

Byrne’s well-taken 45th minute goal sealed the points for Shields at Mariners Park and took his tally for the season to four in three games.

In the video above, he discusses his and the team’s form, and also talks us through his latest ‘chop n bosh’ finish.

He finishes by looking ahead to Saturday’s league trip to Willington.

Gary Middleton described Heaton Stannington as South Shields’ toughest opponents yet this season after watching the Mariners win 2-1 on Tuesday.

Goals from Wayne Phillips and Warren Byrne secured a third straight victory for Shields, and assistant manager Middleton admitted afterwards that they did not play at the best.

However, in the video above, he discusses why he was so pleased the Mariners ground out the three points, and how impressed he is at the form of Byrne, in particular.

He also talks about the game in general, describes Shields as a “work in progress” and looks ahead to Saturday’s trip to Willington in Ebac Northern League Division Two.
