Places are available for teams at the club’s annual golf day, which will be held in August.
The event will take place at South Shields Golf Club, on Cleadon Hills, on Sunday, August 7 from 1pm.
The competition will again be in the popular Texas Scramble format, and there will be plenty of cash prizes for nearest the pins, longest drive and top three teams.
The cost of your fourball, which will include a meal, is £100 for members of the golf club, and £120 for non-members.
To get the best tees, it is best to call or text early with your team names, as places are already being booked fast. The number to contact is 07795 024333.
We are also looking for businesses to sponsor the event, as well as each hole. Again, the number for interested parties to contact is 07795 024333.
Thank you for your continued support, and we hope to see you on August 7!
The club held its annual golf tournament on Sunday at the Cleadon Hills course of the South Shields Golf Club.
The event was a great success, with 18 teams competing in the Texas Scramble fourball format.
The club would like to sincerely thank the golf club for all most kind assistance, in particular to Chris Smith (brother of Len) and the staff for food and a fine bar.
We would also like to thank members of the golf club for their participation and support, as football club officials, sponsors and supporters who also attended it had been a great day of golf and good company.
Special thanks also go to Mariners first-team manager Jon King for all of his fine organisational work in promoting the event, and to all who most kindly donated the raffle prizes, and with hearty congratulations to all the winners.
First team prize winners (main image), with 59.7 points and a cash award of £120, were Lee Auty, Gary Atkinson, Terry Green and Mark Busby.
Second (pictured below), with 61.6 points and a cash award of £80, were Steve Galloway, Tony Galloway, Shaun Nicholls and Paul Gilmour.
Nearest the pin on the first hole (first picture below), was won Davey Bell, with a £15 prize, while the fifth hole was won by Steve Phillips (second picture below), the 10th by Lee Adamson, and the 13th by Debby Ryan (third picture below).
Entries for the club’s annual golf day are now closed, with all 21 team places having been sold.
That means 21 teams of four players will take part in the day, which will take place at South Shields Golf Club, in Cleadon Hills, on Sunday, July 19.
Businesses and individuals can still get involved in the event, though, by sponsoring a hole for £25.
Their business details will be placed in the programme, while they will get the chance to place an advertisement at their selected tee.
Anyone interested in sponsoring a hole can call 07795 024333. Any donated raffle prizes would also be greatly appreciated.
