First-team coach David Hall heaped praise on South Shields’ “absolutely tremendous” supporters after 595 turned out to watch the team beat Team Northumbria 2-0 at Mariners Park on Saturday.

The attendance was by far the highest Step 6 crowd in the country on the day – the next closest was 207 – and was also the highest league crowd from Steps 3 and below.

In the video above, Hall discusses the win over Team Northumbria, and the how impressed he has been with Shields’ fans this season.

He also talks about the impact of new signing Andrew Bulford and substitutes Stephen Ramsey and Robert Briggs in Saturday’s game, and looks ahead to Tuesday’s trip to Whickham.

South Shields coach David Hall described the 2-2 draw as Alnwick Town as ‘two points dropped’ for the Mariners.

However, Hall does believe the point Shields took from the game could prove important later in the season.

Hall felt every player contributed as the Mariners beat an Ebac Northern League Division One side for the third time in pre-season.
