Youngsters in South Tyneside are set to receive Tickets To The Future at Mariners Park as part of a heart-warming fan-led initiative.

South Shields supporter Jeff Bell, who lives in London, started things off by purchasing eight child season tickets for the 2020-21 campaign before donating them back to the club.

Jeff’s wish was for the tickets to be given to deserving children who would not usually have the opportunity to attend games at Mariners Park. The club has committed to working with SSFC Foundation to identify those children.

After Jeff’s generosity was publicised on social media, a host of other figures came forward to donate tickets.

Fellow supporter Dan Duggan followed up by snapping up two tickets of his own, while SSFC vice-president Bob Scott and his wife Viv also added tickets to the fund.

Gordon Picton – the father of Shields joint manager Lee – was another to donate tickets, along with SSFC business development manager Colin Docherty and his son Scott, club media manager Daniel Prince and supporter Roger Askew, among many others, including Alan Winstanley, the father of former SSFC Academy player Joe, who provided five tickets.

By close of play on Wednesday, the total number of season tickets donated stood at 35.

If anyone else would like to purchase Tickets To The Future and donate them, please call 0191 454 7800, email info@southshieldsfc.co.uk or click here and select the type and number of tickets you would like to donate.
