The CEFO Group Stand will open for the first time when South Shields host Hyde United on Saturday.
The front four rows will be accessible, meaning all those with a season ticket in the stand will be able to sit in the seat they booked.
Almost 700 seats will be open, and over 500 of them have already been secured by supporters for the Hyde game, either for season tickets or for this match alone. The central sections are almost sold out but there remains good availability in the two outside sections, with seats available to purchase until 12pm on Friday by clicking here.
The club is greatly excited to be in a position to open the stand and hopes fans are just as enthused about what promises to be a historic day.
However, we must remind supporters that the stand remains incomplete and there are a number of improvements which will be made in the coming weeks and months to greatly enhance the matchday experience.
A further two rows of seating will be installed, as well as executive boxes at the back of the stand. A new club shop, bar, boardroom, toilets and catering facilities will also be introduced in 2022.
Of more immediate concern is an issue which has arisen regarding the sight-lines of several seats in the CEFO Group Stand, particularly in the front row.
The solid protective sheeting which has been fixed to the stairwells has resulted in small sections of the pitch being out of view from a number of vantage points. This is a design flaw on the part of the stand’s designers which we instructed them to rectify as soon as it came to light.
At the time the club made the decision to open the stand for the game against Hyde, we were led to believe a solution would have been found and implemented ahead of Saturday.
However, due to manufacturing delays, those alterations will now not be possible until a later date.
This is hugely frustrating for the club and the designers of the stand have been tasked with devising and executing a plan to resolve this at the earliest opportunity.
Despite that disappointment, we are confident that supporters watching the game from the stand will enjoy more than a flavour of just what a superb matchday experience they have to look forward to in the years to come.
This truly is a huge step forward for the club, with the facility having the potential to have a transformative impact on our long-term future.
The remarkable development of the ground would not have been possible without your incredible support over the last seven years and you should feel proud to have played your part in it.
It’s time to open the next chapter of our exciting journey.
The club is delighted to announce that the CEFO Group Stand will be open for the game against Hyde United on Saturday, December 11th.
It is set to be a historic moment as the new facility – which promises to be transformational for the club – welcomes supporters for the first time.
The front four rows of seating will be opened for the match, with work ongoing on the remainder of the stand, including executive boxes and the fit-out of the area underneath the seating, which is set to feature a new club shop, bar, boardroom, toilets and serving hatches.
South Shields FC chief executive Lee Picton said: “This is a significant moment which we have been looking forward to for quite some time.
“It has been exciting to see the CEFO Group Stand take shape over recent months and although its opening has taken longer than we had anticipated, we are confident it will prove to be worth the wait for our supporters.
“The stand will significantly enhance the matchday experience for those who would like an improved and elevated vantage point from which to view the game, and our target now is to fill all of the seats for the game against Hyde.
“All those who take their seats for that match will be a key part of what is going to be a historic occasion as the club continues its progression.
“We can’t wait to see the stand full and vibrant, with our incredible supporters roaring the team on.”
Those who have purchased a season ticket for the CEFO Group Stand will be able to take their seat at the game against Hyde. Part season tickets, meanwhile, begin with the match against Scarborough Athletic on New Year’s Day.
Supporters with a general entry season ticket will be able to upgrade to a seat for this historic occasion at a cost of just £2, with a priority period to be open between 9am on Thursday, December 2nd and 5pm on Friday, December 3rd for them to do so. These purchases can be made online, or over the phone by calling 0191 454 7800 between 9am and 5pm. A maximum of one seat per general entry season ticket holder will be available in this period.
Any remaining seats for the CEFO Group Stand will go on general sale online at 5pm on Friday, December 3rd, priced at £12 for adults, £10 for students and over-65s, and £5 for under-16s. The phone lines will reopen at 9am on Monday, December 6th and the deadline for securing a seat is 12pm on Friday, December 10th.
Part season tickets, meanwhile, remain on general sale, granting entry to the nine home fixtures currently scheduled to take place in 2022. Seats in the CEFO Group Stand are among the packages available to purchase as part of this. Part season tickets can be secured by clicking here.
Please be part of history and take your seat at an occasion we hope will be talked about for years to come. The next chapter starts here.
Despite significant progress and efforts over recent weeks, the CEFO Group Stand at 1st Cloud Arena will unfortunately not be open for Saturday’s game against Gainsborough Trinity.
Work has continued at pace on what is set to be a transformative new facility for the club, but the club will be unable to receive the required sign-off from building control in time for the weekend’s fixture.
It must also be considered that this is a significant moment for the club, and we would like more time to prepare and ensure our supporters’ first experience of the stand is as positive as possible.
Over the coming weeks, we look forward to communicating our plans for the opening of the stand, which has been earmarked for the game against Hyde United on Saturday, December 11th.
We hope our supporters are looking forward to that as much as we are, and although the delays we have experienced have been hugely frustrating, we firmly believe the end result will be worth waiting for.
