South Shields Football Club is deeply saddened to have learned of the passing of former player Bill Graham at the age of 82.

Known as Billy Graham at the time, he represented the club between 1965 and 1971 before returning for a second spell between 1973 and 1976.

In the image above, Bill is the furthest left player on the back row.

During his first stint with the Mariners, he played in the famous FA Cup third round tie against Queens Park Rangers in 1970.

The highlight of his second spell came in 1976, when he captained the club to the Northern Alliance league title.

The thoughts of everyone at the club are with Bill’s family and friends at this sad time.
