South Shields FC can confirm the signing of midfielder Baptiste Fixot and left-back Michael Turner from Durham City and North Shields respectively.
Defensive midfielder Fixot, pictured, who can also play at centre-back, could make his debut for the club in tomorrow’s Ernest Armstrong Memorial Cup quarter-final at Birtley Town.
The 21-year-old Frenchman, who is studying at the University of Sunderland, said: “I’m very happy to have signed for South Shields and am excited to discover this new team. I think it’s a good club for me. I’m just here to enjoy myself and enjoy my time in England.”
Manager Jon King added: “Baptiste has played all season for Durham City, who have done very well this year. It’s another First Division player we have been able to bring in, and he can play in a couple of positions, which is great for us. He will be a great addition to the squad.”
Turner could also make his debut at Birtley, and King was delighted to capture him.
He said: “We needed to bring in another left-back, because Chris Feasey has done well this season, but if anything happens to him, we would have to play someone out of position. Michael comes highly recommended by the likes of Richie Latimer and North Shields manager Graham Fenton, and we’re delighted to have him on board.”
