Aztec Colour Print have been tremendous supporters of the club since becoming a sponsor in the summer of 2016.
The commercial and trade print business, based in Washington, designs and prints our matchday programmes and is the first-team back of shorts sponsor for 2021-22. Aztec also have two pitchside advertising boards and recently made a significant financial contribution to the club’s charitable Foundation.
We are determined to shine a spotlight on the many superb companies, like Aztec, which have been crucial in the club’s continued growth over recent years.
Lee Redford is Aztec Colour Print’s joint managing director and initially became involved with SSFC after his close friend Gavin Cogdon joined the club five years ago.
The relationship between Aztec and the club has blossomed since then and after Lee attended Saturday’s game against Warrington Town with his son Graye – Aztec sponsored the man of the match award – he expressed his amazement at the progress made by the Mariners.
Lee, who joined Aztec in 2005, said: “It was a superb crowd on Saturday and the ground has come on leaps and bounds over the last few years.
“I played a few county games at the ground back in the day and to see where the club has come from to where it is now, it’s enormous progress.
“We initially got involved when Gav joined the club and we sponsored his kit, but after I had a couple of meetings with the club and we started to get involved with doing the programme, it has been a bit of a journey from there.”
Aztec are a huge supporter of sport in the North East and also provide significant assistance and sponsorship to the likes of Spennymoor Town FC, Sunderland West End FC, Hetton Juniors, Durham County Cricket Club and Monkwearmouth Boxing Club.
Lee added: “I just want to help out in the local area and give something back, which is why we support all of those sporting entities.
“I have two children and the pandemic has made things really tough in terms of opportunities available to youngsters.
“That’s one of the reasons we decided to support the South Shields FC Foundation, because they’re doing amazing work to give people opportunities.
“South Shields is a club massively on the up and you just have to go to a game to see that with the pitch, the team, the crowd and the facilities. They do things right from grassroots to the first-team and youngsters should be proud to wear the badge.
“The club needs everyone behind it in the business and wider community pulling in the same direction, to get where it wants and deserves to be.
“We’re so pleased to do our bit as part of that.”
Aztec Colour Print is based at 8-10 Bridgewater Road on Hertburn Industrial Estate in Washington, and employs 30 staff.
