The club’s new away kit was unveiled during a special event at Mariners Park on Friday.
The reveal came after schoolchildren across South Tyneside took part in a competition to design it, with over 160 entries being made.
The winner was 10-year-old Ashton Defty, of Stanhope School, and he was at Mariners Park to see representatives of the South Shields men’s team, ladies’ team and junior teams model his design. Ashton’s name is printed on the arm of every strip.
The shirt is now available to buy at a cost of £30 for adults and £25 for children. To get yours, pop into Mariners Park or call 0191 454 7800.
As well as the kit launch, a question and answer session was held with Mariners manager Jon King, assistant manager Lee Picton and strikers Jon Shaw and Warren Byrne.
They talked about their hopes for the season ahead, and were well-received by the supporters who were present.
Most of the Shields first team were at the event, with the ladies’ and junior sides also well represented.
Meanwhile, singer Sarah Ryan performed a superb set – we would like to say a big thanks to her for being a part of the evening.
The club would also like to thank all of those who attended the event, and we hope to see you again soon.
A special free night of entertainment will be held at Mariners Park as the club welcomes in the new season.
The club’s new away kit will be launched, while there will be an opportunity for supporters to take part in a question and answer session with South Shields players and staff.
It will also double up as a casino night, with the event taking place on Friday, July 29.
Part of the night will be the unveiling of the new away kit, which comes after schoolchildren across South Tyneside were invited to send in their designs.
A lucky winner has been chosen after well over 160 entries came in, and they will find out on the night at Mariners Park. Their name will be printed on every shirt.
Alisha Henry, South Shields FC’s commercial and events manager, said: “We were delighted with how many entries came in, and it was really difficult to choose a winner.
“However, we narrowed it down and eventually agreed on one, which we’re really looking forward to unveil.
“It would be great to see many of our supporters at Mariners Park for this event, which will also be a curtain-raiser to the season.
“Fans will get their chance to put questions to players and staff and talk about everything which has happened this summer, including the players who have been brought in and the changes made at the ground.”
There will also be food and live music, and it is free to attend. It starts at 7pm. Although it is a free event, if you plan to attend, please call us on 0191 454 7800 so we can add your name to the list.
