Steve Silvester was appointed as a Non-Executive Director of South Shields FC in February 2022.

Steve has a wealth of experience in hospitality, facilities management, food production and distribution. He worked for Compass Group plc – one of the world’s largest food services organisations – for nearly 20 years in a variety of roles, including Regional Operations Manager North East England, Sales Director, Director Corporate Development, Managing Director Government Services and Managing Director Eurest Support Services, where he had responsibility for both UK and worldwide locations. While Regional Operations Manager, he was responsible for all hospitality and ground services at Newcastle United Football Club during and after the redevelopment of the Milburn Stand.

In 2000 he became Operations Director of Roadchef Motorways and was heavily involved in the development and rollout of Costa Coffee with owners Whitbread. He also operated well-known brands, including McDonalds, Travel Inn, WH Smith, BP and Shell to the 65million customers who used Roadchef each year.

In 2003 he joined IAWS plc – one of the largest food manufacturing and distribution companies in Europe – as Managing Director and became CEO a year later. While in these roles Steve was involved in developing the hospitality services at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium and the new Wembley Stadium.

In 2007 he acquired P & A Food Management, a company which provided food and hospitality services across the north of England. The business developed rapidly and extended its client base throughout the UK. Following five successful years he sold the business in 2012.

In recognition of his contribution to the hospitality industry he was made a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality in 2003.

A keen sportsman, Steve has played football and cricket for a number of well-known clubs throughout the North East, and is a keen golfer.
