SSFC International Tournament: Marseille into final after abandonment

Marseille have qualified for the final of the South Shields FC International Tournament after their tie against Celtic was abandoned after 69 minutes on Friday.

The French side led 1-0 when the match officials led the teams off the pitch at Mariners Park for safety reasons, with the ground in the eye of a thunderstorm.

The conditions did not improve sufficiently enough for the game to be restarted, and it was decided that the result would stand at 1-0.

Hosts South Shields meet Southampton at 3pm on Saturday, and the winners will qualify for Sunday’s final.

Marseille’s goal was scored after 35 minutes by striker Zacharie Iscaye.

Tickets for Saturday’s game, as well as Sunday’s finals day, will be available to buy at the turnstiles.
