South Shields vs Ryton and Crawcrook Albion Preview
By Bob Wray
South Shields welcome league basement club Ryton and Crawcrook Albion to Eden Lane on Saturday for an Ebac Northern League Division Two fixture to start the New Year league programme, with the kick-off at 3pm.
Hopefully the weather will not be unkind, and an entertaining match will be played.
Suffice to say that it is much hoped that the Mariners put last Saturday’s poor performance well and truly out of mind and produce a display to entertain their supporters with goals not only to help diminish the current minus goal difference tally, but also to gain three important points.
It is also hoped that the management has a full bench with strength in depth of available first choice squad players and no such problems as was at the Birtley game are repeated.
It is now most important for all players in Shields colours to fully play their part in what needs to be a good finish to the season, and for the club to complete the campaign in as high a league table placing as is possible, for their own self and collective esteem and for the club’s own standing in what has been and remains a difficult experience in present quite unenviable circumstances.
That said, with all due respect to the visitors, there is an opportunity to be taken for points and goals in preparation for the visit of West Auckland on Tuesday.
