South Shields vs Radcliffe

Radcliffe are the visitors to 1st Cloud Arena on Tuesday as South Shields look to build on their promising weekend victory at Ashton United.

The capacity of the ground will be reduced to 300 in line with Durham FA regulations, with more details available by clicking here.

A live stream of the match will be available by clicking here, with the coverage to start at 7.15pm ahead of kick-off at 7.45pm.

Shields are sixth in the early Pitching In Northern Premier League table and will be hoping to make up ground on leaders Warrington Town, who have won all of their games so far.

The Mariners go into Tuesday’s game without Nathan Lowe (knee) and Luke Daly (knee), while there are doubts over Jordan Hunter (calf), Blair Adams (hamstring), Will Jenkins (hamstring) and Josh Gillies (ankle).

The injury situation conjures memories of last season’s meeting between the sides at 1st Cloud Arena, which a youthful Shields side won 3-0 without several of their key performers.

Joint manager Lee Picton said: “We have a few injury concerns at the moment, and at times like these we have to fully utilise our squad.

“We have belief and confidence in the players that will get their opportunity on Tuesday.

“We are regularly incorporating a lot of the older Under-19 Academy players into first-team training sessions and that exposure will hold those young players in good stead if and when their time comes to step up to the plate with the first-team.

“If we cast our minds back to the home game against Radcliffe last season, we were in a similar position with regards to a large number of first-teamers being unavailable, and it’s safe to say the young lads that stepped in on that occasion more than did themselves proud, culminating in last year’s Goal of the Season being scored by Will Jenkins having been assisted by two other Academy players.”

Shields have kept four clean sheets in their opening five matches in all competitions, and will be hoping to continue that fine record against Radcliffe, who have lost their first two league fixtures.

Kick-off at 1st Cloud Arena is at 7.45pm and the turnstiles will open at 6pm.
