South Shields vs Brandon United Preview
By Daniel Prince
South Shields are in action yet again tomorrow (Tuesday) as they play another of their games in hand.
After a disappointing few days, the Mariners take on Brandon United at Peterlee.
Shields lost 4-0 to Whitehaven last Thursday and 3-0 to Alnwick Town on Saturday, dropping to 17th in Northern League Division Two.
Heading into those games, both of those teams were behind the Mariners in the league table, and tonight’s opponents are also lower, currently sitting 20th.
Shields have won just once in their last 12 games, and desperately need to return to winning ways soon if they are to reignite their top-half hopes.
Brandon are sure to provide another tough test tonight, as despite their league position they have lost just one of their last four, including a 9-0 win over Birtley Town.
They are 10 points behind the Mariners, who have played three less games, and are looking to secure their safety in Division Two for next season.
When the sides met in August, they drew 1-1.
