South Shields Reserves aim for top spot – with first-team quartet available

South Shields Reserves will aim to continue their impressive start to the season on Wednesday when they take on Harton and Westoe in the Wearside League.

The two clubs ground-share at the Harton and Westoe Miners’ Welfare Ground, and the reverse fixture was played last week, with the Mariners winning 3-2.

Shields have won four of their opening six league fixtures, and if other results go their way, they could move to the top of the league with a victory on Wednesday.

Four first-team players are at manager Kevin Bolam’s disposal, with Liam Connell, Dillon Morse, Wayne Phillips and Warren Byrne all in the squad.

Kick-off at the Harton and Westoe Miners’ Welfare Ground is at 6.30pm, and all support would be welcome.
