South Shields will travel to Stafford Rangers in the second qualifying round of the Buildbase FA Trophy after their dramatic extra-time win over Farsley Celtic on Tuesday.
Stafford – like Farsley – play in the EVO-STIK Premier Division, and beat St Ives 6-0 in the first qualifying round of the Trophy on Saturday.
Their start to the season in the league has been mixed, and they sit 16th in the table, with 24 points from 16 games.
However, they have three and four games in hand on some of the teams around them in the table, and could well be looking at a top half position with a decent showing in those matches.
Based in the West Midlands – about 24 miles north-west of Birmingham – Stafford finished 13th in the EVO-STIK Premier Division last season.
The second qualifying round tie will take place on Saturday, November 11, with a 3pm kick-off.
That means the Mariners’ trip to Hyde United in EVO-STIK North – which was scheduled for that date – has been postponed, and will be given a new date in due course.
