Shields to face FC Halifax Town in FA Cup

FC Halifax Town will visit 1st Cloud Arena in the final qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup.

Tuesday’s dramatic win on penalties at Southport earned South Shields a place at this stage of the competition for the first time since 2017, and now they will look to go one better.

As they did on that occasion, a tough National League opposition stands in their way in what is sure to be a hard-fought clash.

Halifax were fifth in the National League last season before the coronavirus pandemic forced the campaign to an early close, and lost to Boreham Wood in the play-offs.

They are managed by former Oldham Athletic boss Pete Wild and have started this season with a win, two draws and a defeat in the league.

Ticket and streaming details for this match will be announced over the weekend.
