Reserves ready for long trip to Cleator Moor – with two first-teamers available

South Shields Reserves face their second league fixture of the season on Wednesday when they make the long trip to Cleator Moor Celtic.

The Mariners were agonisingly beaten 3-2 at Coxhoe Athletic in their opening game on Saturday, with the hosts scoring twice late on to change a losing position into a winning one.

Jack Donaghy scored both of Shields’ goals, and Kevin Bolam’s side will aim to get their first points on the board on Wednesday in Cumbria.

First-team players Joss Carmichael and Barrie Smith have both made themselves available for selection as they aim to get more game-time ahead of Saturday’s Northern League Division One trip to Consett.

Wednesday’s kick-off is at 7.45pm.

On Saturday, the reserves lined up like this: Curtis Richardson, Jonny Bainbridge, Tristan Mitford, Harry Simpson, Jonathan Cossar (James Wilson), Nathan Sinclair, Ewan Simpson (Dominic Soulsby), Gary Crutwell (Ian Whelan), Matthew Davidson, Jack Donaghy, Olly Martin. Subs not used: Dira Ejibe, Jonny Hope.
