SSFC Women travel to Harrogate Town in first of six season-defining games

Writer: Nathan BellNathan Bell

South Shields Women travel to Harrogate Town AFC Women to play under the floodlights this Saturday (7pm kick-off).

The lasses will take to the stage at The Exercise Stadium following the men’s game against Gillingham, with a bumper crowd expected for the spectacle.

It promises to be an exciting return to action for the Mariners, who were awarded all three points last week after York RI Ladies forfeited the NERWFL Premier Division game.

This match marks the start of a rather hectic run for the side, who will play their remaining six games of the season in a compact three-week block between now and Sunday, April 20th.

Harrogate Town, meanwhile, head into the game off the back of a 2-1 home win against Sunderland West End Ladies, which has continued their fine start to 2025.

Alex’s thoughts

Co-head coach Alex Miller previewed this weekend’s game, where she discussed the state of the squad as well as how the team has responded to the York RI game being called off.

Eve’s thoughts

Forward Eve Gatens spoke to us this week ahead of Saturday’s exciting clash.

She said: “Everyone is looking forward to playing at the Harrogate stadium under the lights and we’ve had a good few weeks in training to prepare for the game.

“Hopefully we’re able to come away with the three points!”
