South Shields Women host Harrogate Town Women this Sunday in the NERWFL Premier Division (1pm kick-off).
The Mariners will want to get back to winning ways after last week’s planned game against York RI Ladies was called off, which itself was a chance for the side to move past their Women’s FA Cup defeat to Liverpool Feds a week prior.
This will be the team’s first league game in almost a month, since the 1-1 draw away to Hull United on Sunday, November 10th.
Due to the DCFA Women’s Cup clash against Sunderland West End Ladies next week and the subsequent winter break which follows it, it will also be the final opportunity to see the lasses in league action this year.
All-in-all, it has been a hugely encouraging year with a lot of changes to take into account.
Harrogate Town are bottom of the league as things stand, having picked up just five points in 11 games - their solitary win of the season came against Ponteland United Women on Sunday, October 13th.
Jen’s thoughts
Jen Wootten spoke to us this week on camera ahead of Sunday's match - click the video above to hear what she had to say!
Natalie’s thoughts
Natalie May has spoken to us this week to preview Sunday’s offering.
She said: “It’s frustrating that the game was called off last Sunday, as we were really looking forward to it, and it would have been a good opportunity for us to regroup and put things right after the Liverpool Feds game.
“We were disappointed with the result after that game and we know we need to be better.
“We are ready to work hard in training this week, ready for the Harrogate game this Sunday - we are looking forward to it and can’t wait to see all of our fans down there!"
Information for supporters
Kick-off at Harton Welfare (NE34 0NA) this Sunday, December 8th, is at the slightly earlier time of 1pm.
