South Shields Women return to Harton Welfare this Sunday when they play Harrogate Town AFC Women for the second time in just over a week (2pm kick-off).
The lasses played in front of a bumper crowd of 918 supporters at The Exercise Stadium last Saturday, where goals by Jen Wootten, Natalie May and Eve Gatens sealed a 3-0 victory for the Mariners.
They then followed that up with a 2-0 win against Sunderland West End Ladies at 1st Cloud Arena on Wednesday night, with goals scored by Annece Legg and once again, Gatens.
Sunday’s test could provide Shields with the perfect opportunity to show what they are capable of against a familiar side, with an extra game under their belts to show for it.
Harrogate Town haven’t played since that Saturday spectacle and so they head into the game wanting to make amends for that match.
A positive result would send the Mariners up to fourth place in the NERWFL Premier Division.

Sophie’s thoughts

Monica’s thoughts
Defender Monica Innes spoke to us in the run-up for Sunday’s test.
She said: "We are in a very good place after the past two games, we’re finally out of the rough patch and back to winning ways.
"Spirits are high amongst the girls and we’ve had two good results back-to-back, with some great goals scored and two clean sheets.
"Harrogate again on Sunday; very short time frame since we last played them.
"We know what they’re about and there's no reason we can’t take another three points from them on home ground."
