SSFC Women host in-form Bradford City this weekend

South Shields Women host in-form Bradford City AFC Women this Sunday (2pm kick-off).

The lasses have endured a difficult start to 2025, having lost four out of their first five matches but a new week brings about another opportunity to put things right.

Standing in front of them, however, is Bradford City, the NERWFL Premier Division’s hottest side with eight consecutive league games won.

In fact, they have picked up maximum points ever since the Mariners visited Horsfall Stadium back in October - a 3-3 draw was played out that day, with goals by Sophie Greener, Becki McMahon and Ashley Townsend on our side.

A positive result would do the world of good as the team looks to shake off recent poor results.

Last time we met

Watch back the highlights from the last time the two teams met.

Sophie’s thoughts

Co-head coach Sophie Clough has offered her thoughts on the team's response to last weekend's Alnwick Town defeat, as well as how the state of the squad is leading up to Sunday.

Ava’s thoughts

Ava England took the time to share her pre-match thoughts ahead of this weekend's match.

She said: "Obviously we haven’t had the greatest of runs recently, and although frustrating, we’ve worked really hard on different aspects in training to put things right.

"Hopefully all the hard work we’ve put in will help us on a more successful run and get us back to winning ways."
