SSFC Women face undefeated Chester-le-Street Town next in big league fixture

South Shields Women make the short trip to Sunderland to face promotion-hunting Chester-le-Street Town Ladies this Sunday (2pm kick-off).

The lasses weren’t in action last week after the freezing temperatures over the weekend prevented their planned home game against Alnwick Town Ladies from going ahead.

Ford Hub is the destination this time round, where they will welcome a Chester-le-Street side who are currently undefeated in the NERWFL Premier Division.

Jenny Ashton’s stoppage-time winner condemned Shields to their first league defeat of the campaign when the two teams last met on Sunday, October 27th.

It will be the first of two tests against the Cestrians in the coming weeks, with the DCFA Women's Cup semi-final set to be held on home turf on Sunday, February 16th.

Shields are winless in four in the league, so they will be wanting to put things right this time round.
