SSFC Women continue pre-season preparations against Wallsend BC Women Reserves

South Shields Women aim to pick up where they left off when they take on Wallsend BC Women Reserves at Longbenton Sports Ground this Sunday (2pm kick-off).

It will be The Mariners' second pre-season friendly following last Sunday's 1-0 win against Washington FC Women, which came about thanks to Annece Legg's late winner.

Wallsend finished fourth in last season’s NERWFL Northern Division with 32 points to their record, which included 10 wins, two draws and eight defeats.

Alex’s thoughts

Longbenton Sports Ground is a state-of-the-art sporting facility and head coach Alex Miller believes that playing on pitches like these can only be a positive for her team.

She said: “When you're in a more professional environment, it gives you that feeling, that sense of importance, that the games that you play do really matter.

“The lasses love playing at these high-quality facilities.

"It gives us that extra boost; it makes it a lot more comfortable as well."
