Asia Jota says that South Shields Women have one focus this weekend - to get back to winning ways.

The lasses head into Saturday's game against Harrogate Town AFC Women having not played in three weeks, after York RI Ladies forfeited last weekend's scheduled match.

That meant Shields were handed the three points by default, though there was always going to be a sense of disappointment from within the squad that the outcome was taken out of their hands.

“It’s always disappointing when we can’t get out on the pitch,” she said.

“Glad to pick up the points and take it into our match this weekend.”

It marks the start of a hectic three weeks for the group, who are set to play six games in just 22 days.

“I think everyone is excited to go into these next couple weeks at full throttle and get after it,” she said.

“We’re hungry for a win, and we’ve been working hard to make it a reality.”

The busy run-in might lend itself well in front of goal, where the team are hoping to make a significant impact during these last few weeks of the NERWFL Premier Division season.

She continued: “Definitely, everyone is of the same mind of wanting to get out there and put some goals in the back of the net.”

What makes this weekend’s game so special is that the lasses are taking centre stage at The Exercise Stadium - Harrogate Town’s main stadium - following the men’s match earlier in the afternoon.

Needless to say, that should be an positive experience for all involved!

“Yes, this weekend should be a good game,” Jota finished.

“It’s very exciting to be able to play under the lights in a stadium like that, so can’t wait to get after it!”
