Sophie Clough has given her thoughts following South Shields Women’s impressive 6-2 win against Spennymoor Town Ladies this afternoon.
Read below to find out what she had to say!
Q: How are you feeling after the result today?
“Fantastic, I think it’s great to get another win, a fourth win in a row, and it was a fantastic team performance again.
“A lot of different goalscorers on the scoresheet too and so just another great team win.”
Q: These games are always full of passion - did the red card change things from your perspective and how do you think they reacted to that out there?
“Yeah, definitely, and that was one thing that, coming into the game we had spoken about.
“We spoke about it in the week of just, ‘don’t get caught up in emotion’ because they are a big rival of ours and there’s history there.
“It was, ‘don’t get caught up in that’ and I think our girls did well to not retaliate in anything and keep their heads, so, proud of them for that and it was good to have the extra body out there.”
Q: Sophie Greener came off early into the second-half with what seemed like a nasty injury; is there anything you can share at this stage about how she is getting on?
Q: It’s always great to see more goals being scored and to see six in the back of the net this afternoon must be pleasing for you?
“Everybody’s buzzing, everybody’s really happy with it and it was good for us to finally put some goals in the back of the net.
“We’ve been building to it and I think it’s only well-deserved to get six goals on a game sheet after what we’ve been building throughout the year.”
