Shields drawn against Marske in FA Cup

South Shields have been drawn at home to Marske United in the third qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup.

The tie is due to be held on Saturday, October 1st, with ticket details to be announced in due course.

The Mariners defeated Shildon 5-0 on Saturday to book their place in Tuesday’s draw, having seen off Workington in the previous round.

Marske, meanwhile, won 1-0 at Whitby Town in the second qualifying round, with Runcorn Linnets also beaten by the Seasiders in this season’s competition.

Shields and Marske will meet twice in four days, with a league meeting scheduled to take place at Marske’s Mount Pleasant on Tuesday, September 27th.

They also faced each other in last season’s FA Cup, with Marske triumphing 3-0 in the second qualifying round.

The Seasiders – who won promotion from the Pitching In Northern Premier League East Division last term – have started the campaign in impressive fashion and sit fourth in the Premier Division with 14 points from seven games.
