Olivia Mole joins SSFC Women

South Shields Women is delighted to welcome defender Olivia Mole to the club!

She joins us from fellow NERWFL Premier Division outfit Spennymoor Town Ladies, where she has made 14 appearances this season.

The new arrival even picked up a player of the match award for the Moors against our next opponents, Barnsley FC Women, when they faced off back in November.

Head coach Alex Miller says Mole adds noticeable strength in depth to what is already the division’s best defence: Shields have conceded just 13 goals in 14 matches this season.

“Liv’s a great character to have in the team,” she reflected.

“She definitely does strengthen the backline, as it gives us more options.

“She adds that versatility as well and it’s great to have some quality there that we can dip into and use when we need it, and reinforce the strength in the team that we’ve already got.”

And Mole has chimed in on how excited she is to get started and potentially feature against a team she is already familiar with.

She said: “I can’t wait to get started properly! Obviously I’ve been training for a few weeks but my first match is hopefully on Sunday so I’m excited to get things going properly.

“At Spenny we’ve already played Barnsley twice so I do know what to expect from them but hopefully we come away with three points.”

Mole could make her debut for the club against the Reds this Sunday at Harton Welfare (2pm kick-off) - get along to the game as it could prove to be a promotion six-pointer.

Welcome to the Mariners, Liv!
