Match Preview: South Shields v Curzon Ashton

South Shields host Curzon Ashton at the 1st Cloud Arena for the club's first home fixture of the 24/25 National League North campaign.

Shields made the trip down to Hereford for their opening game of the season which saw the Mariners on the end of a 3-0 defeat with goals scored by Montel Gibson, Andy Williams and Yusifu Ceesay.

Curzon faced newly promoted side Needham Market to start the season which saw them come away with a 3-0 victory with goals scored by Jimmy Spencer (2) and Stefan Mols (1).

Elliott's thoughts

Shields manager Elliott Dickman shared his thoughts on welcoming Curzon to the 1st Cloud Arena.

"Week in, week out we're taken back by the support we have home and away, we had a good number of fans down at Hereford which we really appreciate"

"Curzon are a good side with good players who have their own way of playing that suits them. Our job is to make sure we are fully prepared which we have done throughout pre-season"

"The message is that we need to take more care in certain areas, we need to make sure we're not gifting soft goals away, we need to make sure that we are really competitive"
