Match Preview: Kings Lynn Town vs South Shields

Writer's picture: Dan BallistonDan Balliston

The Fixture:

South Shields make the trip to Kings Lynn after back-to-back home wins. Two hard-fought triumphs over Needham Market and Alfreton Town in the space of three days have given the Mariners the return to form and boost they needed before the final thirteen matches of the campaign.

Last time out against tomorrow’s opponents, Shields recorded an impressive 2-1 victory on a memorable Remembrance Weekend at the 1st Cloud Arena. A last minute penalty miss from the away side meant Elliott Dickman’s side deservedly ran out as winners and no doubt will be using November’s result to fuel their trip to Norfolk.

Shields sit ten points adrift of the play-off spots, with their opponents taking up that spot on fifty-six points. However, Kings Lynn come into this one with largely contrasting form. Defeats in their previous two games means the Mariners come into this one, irrespective of league position, as the form team and will have the division’s top scorer, Paul Blackett.. Another key man will be David Carson, who has picked up back-to-back man of the match awards in the heart of the Shields midfield.

Home form has propelled them up the table throughout the season, they will view the lengthy trip to Norfolk as a great opportunity to record a vital three points on the road.
