South Shields FC Women would like to welcome Jess Spark to the club!
The Newcastle United Women's Development team centre back has joined the Mariners ahead of what is expected to be a challenging second-half to the NERWFL Premier Division season.
Prior to joining the Magpies, she was a part of the Sunderland AFC Regional Talent Club, where she gained valuable competitive footballing experience at a top-class set-up.
Spark says she is familiar with a number of faces already, which should help with settling in.
She said: “I’m very excited to get started at Shields and can already tell how much I’ll enjoy it.
“I have played with Ellie (White) before and I’m very close to Jaz (Elliott-Wood) so I’m glad I’ll get to play with them.”
Head coach Alex Miller added: “I’m thrilled with the signing of Jess, who is a talented centre back joining us from Newcastle United Women’s Development team.
“Jess is known for her impressive physicality and strong defensive presence.
“She is also exceptional on the ball, bringing composure and distribution to the backline.
“Her experience at highly established academies has helped hone her tactical awareness, and we’re excited to see her make an impact on our squad.”
Spark could be in line to make her debut for the club this Sunday against Bradford City AFC Women.
Welcome to Shields, Jess!
