Jaz Elliott-Wood becomes first summer arrival for SSFC Women

Jaz Elliott-Wood has signed for South Shields Women.

She becomes Matt Gatiss’ first signing as head coach and the former Sunderland Under-23s midfielder will be looking to impress ahead of the new season.

Upon signing for the team, Jaz said: “South Shields is an amazing club and this is an opportunity that I couldn’t say no to.

“I feel like this is definitely the right place to be to really push on in my career and I can’t wait to get going, work hard and see where this club can go.”

Head coach Matt Gatiss said: “We’re so happy to get this signing across the line.

“Jaz is without doubt one of the best young midfielders in the North East, and bringing a player of her calibre in shows our intent for the new season.”

Meanwhile, the lasses will host Spennymoor Town Ladies in the first round of the NERWFL League Cup.

The tie is scheduled for August 27th, with the venue yet to be announced.

Gatiss will be hoping his Mariners can make the most of all the cups available as the team continue to prepare ahead of the new season.

Pre-season starts with a home tie against Gateshead on Sunday, July 30th. More information will be shared closer to the date.
