Skilful Wayne has been one of the most respected non-league players in the North East for quite some time.
The winger, who joined the Mariners in the summer of 2015, has played for a host of top clubs in the region over the last decade.
His former sides include Gateshead, Harrogate Town, Spennymoor Town, Whitley Bay and Blyth Spartans.
Arguably his biggest achievement came in the 2012-13 season, when he was part of the Spennymoor team which won the FA Vase at Wembley.
During his time there, he also won the Northern League, but he departed the Brewery Field after the club accepted promotion to the Evo-Stik League.
Following that, he spent a season with Jarrow Roofing before making the move to Mariners Park.
His first campaign with the club was certainly memorable, with Shields going on to win 107 points as they lifted the Northern League Division Two title.
