David had been strongly linked with hometown club Shields on a number of occasions before joining from Seaham Red Star during the summer of 2016.
He has built himself a reputation as a goalscoring midfielder during his career so far, which has been spent entirely in the Northern League.
Having played in the past for Jarrow Roofing and Bishop Auckland, as well as Seaham, he was tempted by a move to his hometown club following South Shields’ promotion to Northern League Division One.
David, who can play on the centre of midfield or wide on the right, helped Seaham to a ninth-placed finish in 2015-16, which was their first season since winning promotion to Division One, having joined them just prior to the midway point in the campaign.
He scored 18 league goals overall – 12 for Seaham, six for Bishops – while he also struck 20 times the season before that for Seaham as they won promotion.
