Club chairman Gary Crutwell said: “It was a very successful night, and football supporters from across the North-East attended.

“We would like to thank every supporter and sponsor who came along, as well as The Mile for hosting it and putting on a great night.

“Kevin Phillips was a great guy before, during and after the event, and we would like to congratulate him on the Honorary Fellowship he received last week from the University of Sunderland.”

The club hopes to present a further top-class sportsman’s talk-in in the new year, and details of that will be posted on the website in due course.
