Nobby Solano talk-in a big success at Mariners Park

The club would like to say a huge thanks to Newcastle United legend Nolberto Solano for taking part in a superb talk-in at Mariners Park on Friday.

The Peruvian appeared at the ground alongside compere Joe Allon, with a sold-out audience watching from the O’Brien Lounge.

Nobby spoke about his career at length, from his beginnings in Peru to his heyday at Newcastle under Sir Bobby Robson.

However, any South Shields fans hoping he may one day wear claret and blue were left disappointed – with the 41-year-old insisting his playing days were well and truly over.

Now involved in the coaching set-up with his national team, Nobby also spoke about his hopes for the future, both for himself professionally and his beloved Newcastle.

It was one of his first talk-ins in the North East, and he performed as admirably as he always did on the pitch while being the perfect gentleman all night.

Once again, thank you to Nolberto, Joe and Steve Wraith, who helped to organise the event and played a key role in proceedings on the night.

Also a huge thanks to everyone who turned out – we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
