New Head Coach appointed as SSFC Ladies return to action

Scott Curtis has been appointed Head Coach of South Shields FC Ladies.

Curtis will begin his role on Wednesday, April 28 and brings with him a wealth of experience in coaching, having worked in the junior and women’s games, as well as in the men’s Northern League.

His remit will be to continue the positive development of the team towards its goal of securing promotion to the Women’s National League.

The players, management and wider club are looking forward to working with him on enhancing the reputation of the team and achieving success on the pitch.

We would like to thank all candidates who applied for the vacant role.

The Mariners returned to action after the latest coronavirus lockdown with a 6-2 win over Blyth Town at Harton Welfare on Sunday, followed by a 2-2 draw at Sunderland West End on Wednesday.

Due to the latest restrictions, no supporters are permitted to watch games at present but the club will keep fans up-to-date with the team’s efforts in the weeks ahead.

SSFC Ladies’ season will run until the end of May, with a subsidiary cup competition having been set-up in the way of local mini-leagues, with the top two to progress into semi-finals before a final is played.

The only original competition which continues is the County Cup, which restarts on Sunday.
